For the past 3 years we have been blessed and honored to host a event that is focused on children whose parents are currently incarcerated in various county, state and federal correctional institutions all over the United States. This is an event that is very near and dear to my heart because I was once in this situation raising a child whose father was incarcerated for 4 years. The financial strain, the emotional stress takes a toll on all families. I started this event to let them know they are not alone and there are people out here who can relate but are also walking the same path as them. This year with the Pandemic we were unsure if we would be able to hold the event due to the Governors restrictions in the State of Pennsylvania. We will be forever grateful for Dina Blackwell, owner and Operator of the House of Manna located in the heart of Homewood, in Pittsburgh, PA. for donating her space this year to give us the necessary space so we would not exceed the occupancy restrictions placed on businesses all over. The small business are especially having a hard time because these restrictions cut down the amount of customers they can serve at a time. I was beyond thankful for the overwhelming support from the community this year as friends of mine pulled up in box trucks filled with food and other items for the families for this event. We were even able to accept 2 families who walked in from off the street who had fallen on hard times this holiday season. When people ask "why do you do it?" My response is always the same the kids. Those babies are so appreciative every year that someone takes the time to acknowledge what they are going thru and that they have other little people who are in the same situation as they are. 7 Senses is all about family and our customers are our family!! We are in the community, we love the community WE ARE THE COMMUNITY!!
